The Genesis Home removes obstacles for families caught in the crisis of homelessness by offering a safe place where family members can live and work together to re-establish permanent and stable households. The Home provides families with food, shelter, support services such as case management, advocacy, referral, and goal oriented counseling.

Girls on the Run
Girls on the Run (GOTR) is an innovative health education and wellness program that combines training for a noncompetitive 3.1 mile run/walk event with life-changing, self-esteem enhancing lessons that encourage healthy habits for girls 8-12 years of age.

Guardian ad Litem Program (GAL)
GAL is an organization which advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children in Durham County through the use of trained volunteers. Volunteers include child advocates and attorneys.

Habitat for Humanity
Habitat provides a hand-up, not a hand-out by helping people help themselves. Habitat builds modest, well built homes with as much donated materials and labor as possible and sells them at cost to the partner homeowners.

Habitat Hand-Me-Ups Store is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity with a mission of raising funds for the purchase of materials to build homes. There second mission is to offer new or nearly new household goods at a reasonable price.

Hillcrest Convalescent Center is one of North Carolina’s first nursing homes, and has become the "Nursing Home of Choice" for families that demand high quality care. The founder and proprietors of Hillcrest saw a dire need for competent, attentive care for the elderly, and sought to fulfill that need. Headstart
Headstart is a program of Operation Breakthrough, Inc. Headstart is a preschool program designed to serve children ages 3-4. Participants must meet federal eligibility guidelines. The education component of Headstart encourages children to solve problems, initiate activities, explore, experiment, question, and gain mastery through learning by doing.

Helpline
Helpline is a service of the Durham County Mental Health Center. Helpline gives people in crisis a chance to talk to a caring individual who will listen and offer some solace. Helpline relies entirely on volunteers to fill this important need in the community.
